Field File - Append/Overwrite

(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)

After selecting a field file for data entry via any of the Field Transfer/Input commands, or the Resolve/Edit Field File a warning dialog box will be displayed if the file currently exists.

Select the Append button to keep the existing data in the file intact and append new data to the end of the file.

Alternatively, select the Overwrite button if you wish to delete the data in that file.

Note that if appending to an existing field file, the following configuration settings must be the same as previously used in that Field file. Refer also to the Field File topic.

• Record type     021     Order of co-ordinates
  • Field 1- XY or YX Default is XY (text)
• Record type     022     Local scale factor
  • Field 1- Scale factor Default is 1.0 (Decimal)
• Record type     023     Global co-ordinate offsets
  • Field 1- X or Y Co-ordinate offset Default is 0.0 (Decimal)
  • Field 2- Y or X Co-ordinate offset Default is 0.0 (Decimal)
  • Field 3- Z Co-ordinate offset Default is 0.0 (Decimal)
• Record type     035     Vertical circle type
  • Field 1- Z for zenith Default or;
  • Field 1- E for elevation or;
  • Field 1- N for nadir
• Record type     051     Angle units
  • Field 1- DM for degrees, minutes and seconds Default or;
  • Field 1- DD for decimal degrees or;
  • Field 1- GR for gons
• Record type     052     Angle direction
  • Field 1- + for clockwise Default or;
  • Field 1- - for anticlockwise Default or;
• Record type     053     Distance units
  • Field 1- M for metres Default or;
  • Field 1- F for feet or;
  • Field 1- L for links
